MCU Recognized for Grounds Management Excellence

The Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) recognized Marymount California University with an Honor Award in the Society’s 2013 Green Star Awards competition. The award was given in the University/College category for exceptional grounds maintenance. Winners were honored during the Society’s 2013 Awards Dinner held Oct. 25 in conjunction with the School of Grounds Management & GIE+EXPO in Louisville, Ky., Oct. 23-26.

Provost Schauer Presents at U.S. Department of Education College Affordability Forum

On November 6, 2013, Marymount California University took part in an open forum on the Obama Administration’s College Affordability Initiative. Hosted by California State University Dominguez Hills and facilitated by the Under Secretary of Education Martha Kanter and other U.S. Department of Education officials, the forum was an opportunity to provide feedback on President Obama’s higher education plan, which was announced in August. The U.S. Department of Education is seeking input on the three components of the initiative: paying for performance; promoting innovation and competition; and ensuring that student debt remains affordable, as well as the development of a college ratings system.

Enactus Hunger Relief Project

MCU Freshman wins Cal Pac Conference Cross Country Title

Marymount California University freshman Heidi Hoslet wins the Cal Pac Conference cross country title. As she has done several times this fall, Heidi broke the 19-minute mark on a 5k cross country course, finishing in 18:45 and matching her season-best time.
