The university has plans to invest $6 million to enhance the student’s residential experience. The first phase begins Summer 2017 with $1.9 million in projects planned. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on May 20th.
Recently, 10 students and 10 staff members enrolled in Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training. CERT educates individuals about disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact their geographic area and trains them in basic disaster response skills.
The Marymount criminal justice bachelor’s degree provides students with a solid foundation of knowledge and expertise to prepare them for careers that span the private sector, and federal, state and local government agencies. On March 30, a career fair was held with more than 13 agencies represented and hundreds of students attending. FBI Special Agent Frederick J. Simon gave an insider’s look at his work involving international and domestic terrorism, espionage, and violent crimes.
The university considers serving our military students an honor, and part of that responsibility to the men and women of the United States armed forces starts with providing a caring and accommodating university experience. This includes a dedicated Veterans’ Student Organization and a full complement of onsite health and academic counseling along with the social support that will ensure a positive college experience and successful degree completion.
In 2016 Marymount initiated its first Days of Giving campaign when for two days, donors made online contributions to sponsor scholarships or to fund programs of the donors’ greatest interest. This year, the number of donors doubled.
On April 2, the Marymount Student Wellness Center held an open house to meet the team and tour the newly remodeled center, located next to the Oceanview Campus bookstore. Through Express Care Virtual, students may visit with a doctor or nurse practitioner via their phone or computer without paying for a physician or clinic visit.
