Wireless

Wireless Internet access is available throughout Marymount California University campuses (Oceanview and The Villas).

To use the wireless network, connect to our network and use your Marymount username and password to log-in.

Our goal is to make the process as simple as possible while maintaining a high level of security for Marymount’s existing network. If you need help connecting to the wireless network, please email generalsupport@marymountcalifornia.edu to arrange a time to meet with a member of the IT staff.

Requirements

To use the wireless network, a laptop installed with the following components will be required:

  • Windows 10
  • Windows 8
  • Windows 7
  • Windows Vista
  • Mac OSX
  • Built-in wireless cards are preferred
While searching for wireless networks on campus, you will see three separate networks to choose from.  Please view the different options below and connect to the network that best suits your needs.

MCU Secure
Logging into the wireless from a webpage isn’t very secure. It’s also cumbersome for tablets and other smaller screened devices. Additionally, employees of the University haven’t been able to access all systems from wireless. We created MCU Secure to fill these needs. You also get increased speed on this network, and once you log in with a device, you stay logged in.

The easiest way to connect to this is to first connect to MCU Basic, then follow the link on the login page to automatically setup MCU Secure.  

MCU Basic
We realize that not all devices may be able to utilize MCU Secure, so we created MCU Basic in order to provide basic internet access for older devices.  This system logs you off after 8 hours of use, and provides limited speed. Employees are also restricted in what internal resources they may access.  Please note that MCU Basic does not currently work with Windows 8/8.1.  Please use MCU Secure for this version of Windows.

MCU Guest
We love visitors on our campus, but at times the 4G coverage is not the best. We created MCU Guest, enabling visitors to easily utilize our internet to check email, browse the web, or conduct business.

Connecting to Wireless in Units

Each unit is equipped with its own LinkSys router.  When searching for a wireless signal, connect to the network that is the same as your unit number.

You can find the password printed on the router inside your unit.
