What is Title IX?

No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any educational program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance.

Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in educational programs and activities receiving federal financial assistance.  Marymount California University is dedicated to creating and fostering a learning environment where all members of our community can thrive.  MCU maintains a zero tolerance policy on sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual assault, relationship (dating and domestic) violence and stalking.  The University provides resources and reporting options to students, faculty and staff to address concerns related to sexual harassment and sexual violence prohibited by Title IX and University policy.

A reporting party is not required by law to use the University’s grievance process before filing a complaint with Office of Civil Rights (OCR). If reporting party uses Marymount California University’s (MCU) grievance process and also chooses to file the complaint with OCR, the complaint must be filed with OCR within 60 days after completion of the MCU grievance process.

Currently, first- and second-year students take core courses at our suburban Oceanview Campus. Upper division and graduate courses take place at our urban Waterfront Campus.
