Marymount California University students are participating in internships for academic credit this fall, thanks to an exclusive agreement with Del Amo Behavioral Health System in Torrance, CA. Currently, four students are serving in the Clinical Services department in the areas of Social Work, Specialty Programs, Intake/Admissions and Trauma.
This unprecedented partnership between the two organizations creates several internships at Del Amo exclusively for Marymount students. “While students will not have any patient/client interaction, this is still an amazing opportunity for exposure to the industry and networking with key professionals in the field,” explained Roshni D. Lal, Marymount’s Assistant Director of Career Planning & Employer Relations.
Del Amo’s human resources director, Teri Gibson, is an alumna of Marymount and was instrumental in bringing the partnership to life. Last month, Gibson, Lal, representatives from Del Amo and Marymount’s leadership came together at Marymount’s Oceanview campus to explore other ways the two organizations can collaborate on additional internship and professional development opportunities for students.
