Meet Erika Gomes, an outstanding graduating senior in the class of 2018.
What is your major?
Liberal Arts – Psychology & American Studies
What are your plans after graduation? Your hopes for after graduation?
After graduation, I plan on going to grad school to get a master’s degree in Education and a high school counselor credential.
What have you been involved in while at MCU?
While at MCU, I’ve been a part of SOS, worked for the service learning office, a volunteer at BGC, the confirmation class, and a Case Manager at the Boys and Girls Club of the Los Angeles Harbor.
What is your favorite memory of MCU?
My favorite memory at MCU, was the religious retreat I went to my sophomore year. I was able to truly be myself after that without feeling bad about it. It’s also when I got to know my best friend.
What advice do you have for other students?
Always trust in God, he has a plan. In the meantime do things out of your comfort zone because you’ll grow.
What was your favorite experience at MCU?
My favorite experience is the close relationship I built with my professors.
Your favorite faculty member and your favorite class at MCU?
My favorite faculty member would have to be Susan Garman. Since my freshman year, she’s been there for me and been like a mother figure to me. My favorite class would have to be any class with Carlos. The learning experience is great.
