Grad of the Week: Eva Rae Guevara
During graduation season, MCU is pleased to shine a light on a few of our students who are members of the Class of 2020. Students who are candidates for graduation are showcased on a weekly basis leading up to the May commencement ceremony.
What is your major?
Bachelor of Science in Digital Communication Media
What are your plans and hopes for after graduation?
My plans for after graduation consist of beginning a career in marketing for a fashion or beauty/skincare company. In the midst of establishing myself as a marketer, I want to become a licensed real estate agent. I hope to utilize my marketing knowledge to promote myself as a realtor while investing in residential development and flipping homes. I hope to be my own boss one day.
What have you been involved in while at MCU?
I was a pop vocalist in the applied music program for two years/four semesters. I was a keynote speaker for the 2018 Pay It Forward event hosted for first generation students from the Boys & Girls Club in San Pedro, Wilmington, and Harbor City. I am a peer advisor in the Success Center. I am also the marketing intern for the marketing department here at MCU.
What is your favorite memory of MCU?
My favorite memory here at MCU is being nominated for NCWSL my freshmen year.
What advice do you have for other students?
You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think. Be kind, always.
What was your favorite experience at MCU?
My favorite experience here at MCU was being able to share my singing talents on stage during final performances for fall and spring semesters.
What was your favorite class at MCU?
My favorite class was AM 350 – Junior Research & Conceptual Development with Yumi Kinoshita. I was able to produce and release an original R&B song on Soundcloud for my final project.
Who inspired you at MCU and why?
Laura Niemiec, she inspires me to be mindful of others needs and to be patient, loving and kind.
