Grad of the Week: Jesus Sanchez
MCU is pleased to shine a light on a few of our students who are members of the Class of 2021 and are candidates for graduation for Spring 2021.
What is your major?
Bachelor of Arts in Psychology
What are your hopes and plans after graduation?
To continue my graduate studies and formation at St. John’s Major Seminary in Camarillo. And, God-willing become a priest of Jesus Christ in the Roman Catholic Church!
What have you been involved in while at MCU?
I have been involved at MCU by running the Campus Ministry Office along with other brother seminarians. I had the amazing opportunity via the Christmas prayer service to work with the different academic societies and clubs at the university.
What is your favorite memory of MCU?
The MCU Christmas Prayer Service of 2019. I love seeing people coming together to pray, sing, and share with one another.
What advice do you have for other students?
Do not be afraid to ask for help. There are plenty of students, faculty, and staff at MCU who desire nothing but your academic success. Also, don’t be shy to ask for prayers!
What was your favorite experience at MCU?
Having the opportunity on Ash Wednesday of 2019, to go down to the Villas door to door and offer ashes for Ash Wednesday. For me, it was a unique and pastoral experience to get to know and minister to other students.
What was your favorite class at MCU and why?
Philosophy of Ethics with Dr. Robert Doyle. I love philosophy and learning about the different ethical theories was just fascinating and interesting on how they can be applied and further examined in our own day-to-day life!
Who inspired you at MCU and why?
Sr. Antoine Marie inspired me here at MCU. Her kindness and dedication to the university’s staff, faculty, and students is just amazing. When times were difficult, Sr. Antoine always made sure to pray for me and give me words of courage and strength to persevere in my studies and work.
