Grad of the Week: Suleima Lima-Ruiz
During graduation season, MCU is pleased to shine a light on a few of our students who are members of the Class of 2020. Students who are candidates for graduation are showcased on a weekly basis leading up to the May commencement ceremony.
What is your major?
Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice
What are your plans and hopes for after graduation?
I want to pursue my career in law enforcement such as the Sheriff’s Department or any Police Department, in hopes to work my way into the SWAT Division or Homicides.
What have you been involved in while at MCU?
I have been a part of Student Government, as well as working in the Student Center. I also had the honor of working in Admissions over the summer!
What is your favorite memory of MCU?
Touring the campus before I committed to the university. Never did I realize that the person that gave me my tour was also going to become a very close friend.
What advice do you have for other students?
Having communication with professors and people around you will give you an advantage of developing close relationships that one day may be helpful in networking.
What was your favorite experience at MCU?
Being able to go to events at the Villas and meeting other students from different grade levels.
What was your favorite class at MCU?
All of my Criminal Justice classes because I felt that the professors made every minute of every class entertaining and having guest speakers from different agencies made it feel like I was given all the resources needed to become successful.
Who inspired you at MCU and why?
Professor Dileva and Chief Hector Rodriguez have become a huge inspiration and motivation for me because I’ve struggled to work and study full-time. Along the way when I felt like I was about to give up they taught me the importance of perseverance and sacrifice.
