Jockeyah Bostick, Grad of the Week
We are happy to introduce you to a graduating senior with big plans! Meet Jokeyah Bostick.
What is your major?
What are your plans after graduation? Your hopes for after graduation?
After I graduation I will be attending USC in their Dworak-Peck School of Social Work for my Masters. My hopes after commencement will be to make a smooth transition into USC and network with people so that when I graduate I will hopefully have a job lined up.
What have you been involved in while at MCU?
During my freshman year at Marymount, I was a member of R.H.A. It was a fun experience and because of that I decided to apply to be a Community Assistant my sophomore year, I was a CA/RA from my sophomore to junior year. Since then, I have interned at the Student Wellness Center, and have worked as a receptionist for the administration building.
What is your favorite memory of MCU?
My favorite memory at Marymount is from my freshman year, it was the spring carnival and my friends and I were playing in the jumpers and dancing to the music, it was a great turn out and an overall good time.
What advice do you have for other students?
My advice for other students is to enjoy your experience and participate! The time goes by so much faster when you are involved and it opens up doors to meet more people and find out about all the different resources that Marymount offers.
What was your favorite experience at MCU?
My favorite experience at Marymount was becoming a Community Assistant. We had to go camping for training and while were there we had to figure out all of the different tasks and obstacles as a group. It was a great experience. We were all working together and building a bond.
Your favorite faculty member and your favorite class at MCU?
My favorite faculty member at MCU is Osmara Reyes-Osorio, she has been my teacher, mentor, and my biggest supporter. Because of her I had the opportunity to intern at the Student Wellness Center, which taught me valuable skills for my future profession and she has helped me to navigate through my senior year as well as graduate school applications. I owe a lot to her. As for my favorite class at MCU, it would have to be Intro to Sociology with Carlos Royal, he is an amazing teacher and he keeps his classes entertaining.
