Professor, Psychology

My interests involve understanding the process of civic engagement and empowerment to support community development initiatives. I am particularly interested in the process by which individuals and groups voice community concerns to promote social justice. To this end I enjoy working with communities on participatory action research projects to identify, connect, and mobilize local assets and facilitate culturally relevant social change. I have enjoyed working with community members on locally driven projects to promote health and wellness through peace building, environmental justice, and wildfire preparation and responses. I have also worked on empowerment focused projects to prevent suicide, domestic violence, and human trafficking.
