Professor Veliz teaches courses in economics, business and statistics.  Professor Veliz brings a wealth of consumer technology industry practical experience to the economics and business program.  He has worked in product management, marketing analytics and strategic planning with such companies as Pioneer Electronics, Denso Wireless, Iomega, and Leap Wireless.

A native Californian, Veliz holds an MA in Economics from Claremont Graduate University, an MBA from UC Irvine, a BS in Management Science from UC San Diego (where he studied forecasting and econometrics under Economics Nobel Laureates Clive Granger and Robert Engle), and has studied marketing at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.  His personal interests include practicing budo (classical samurai martial arts) and jazz piano.
